Acne is something that has blemished the best of facest, and in my words is the great equalizer. It, my friends, does not discrimnate! There are plenty of products that claim they can get rid of acne, but are there any that can get rid of acne and improve the quality of your skin. Hopes and dreams you think, but  no I am about to present to you the holy grail of acne and skincare prodcuts… Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque ( a.k.a  Queen of acne face masks).

Now a professional description of Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque shall be given. The ingredients; water, Kaolin, Bentonite, Glycerin, Zinc Oxide, Propylene Glycol, Sulfur, Chromium Oxide Greens, Fragrance (Parfum), Phenoxyethanol, and Methylparaben. After thoroughly cleansing your face and neck apply a think layer of the mask to desired areas and let it dry for about 15 minutes. When the mask looks dry and cracky, and you feel like you just got  Botox injected into your face, rinse with a warm washcloth and be amazed. Even if you don’t have acne/skin problems you can still use the mask to get a fresher look. So basically Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque is a mint sulfur acne face mask that claims to help dry up acne pimples, rinse away blackheads, and shirk enlarged pores. Usually I would say never believe the sales pitch, but in this case the pitch is the absolute truth!

Sulfur is known to be a major acne fighting component due to the fact that it dries the skin. This can be a problem if you use to much of it, but when used in the right amounts sulfur can be an acne suffers best friend. Another amazing component of our egg smelling amigo is that it reduces the skins oiliness, and fights to keep your pores from becoming clogged. So you can see where the acne fighting part comes in. Some sulfur side affects can include dryness and irritation of your precious skin, but you guys just remember not to over do it with your sulfur treatments. Also don’t use sulfur on sunburned or irritated skin, you be in store for some pain.

I have been using this product for about a year, but for some reason forgot about. Upon a recent breakout I remembered my long time friend and ran to the store to get a new tube. As soon as I got home I put on the mask and waited. When the 15 minutes was up and I rinsed off my face I was overjoyed. My previously large pores had gone back to their normal size, the breakout on my forehead was no longer as red or as fresh, and my skin felt so clean and was glowing! Y’all should have seen the happy dance I  performed, fit for Broadway (ha!). My overall opinion of Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque is it’s a great acne mask, it shrinks pores, and leaves your skin looking great!

As all you fashion forward people know, dark nail polish colors are in this fall of 2012. I love the sophisticated look the dark colors give off, but sometimes I want something a bit more lively, something that breathes life. So I started observing, researching and looking around and what did I find flooding the nail polish racks and hands of the fashionable…mint blue nail polish and gold! The mint blue I am absolutely digging, it’s just so beautiful and free and gives any outfit a pop of life. Metallic gold is just a color that exudes sophistication and class, not to mention it goes with just about anything. The other colors have all been tired and try, and can be found just bout anywhere. I must say I like Sally Hansen’s like of polish it goes on thick, the only thing is it takes forever to dry, but it does stick! I present to the nail polish colors for fall 2012!

Never have I been so in love with a piece of clothing than I am with chunky sweaters! I truly believe they are one of the most simple and functional pieces of clothing there is, you just slip em on and go, instant warmth. I wanted to keep the outfit simple, yes this is the same skirt, and scarf from my last shoot, so I threw on a simple, but beautiful printed skirt. The scarf ties in the silver color in the outfit and adds some distraction from my very very mess hair. If you look you will see I have on no jewelry. For me to wear no jewelry feels like not wearing a shirt, I feel naked! but some outfits simply speak for themselves and no jewelry is required. This here was indeed one of those. Well as I said before you guys, chunky sweaters are a must have fall staple, and a functional staple at that! Enjoy y’all, good tidings.

This outfit ended up being African inspired without my even trying, but I can’t say I’m not please with the outcome! I try to keep my outfits as simple as possible without being to bland. I’ve always believed that simplicity is much more beautiful, and challenging, than throwing a bunch of things together. I absolutely had to wear this beautiful, flower printed, thrifted skirt and paired it with a simple black tee,and mint- blue stripped Keds. Some of y’all are probably screaming “Lord she wore Keds with a skirt!” yes I did, I prefer comfort and believe you can still be fashionable without wearing heels. To tie the blue of the Keds into the black and grey themed outfit I dug in my jewelry drawer and pulled out this beautiful necklace. I love the silver, turquoise, and red in the necklace and it’s construction just speaks of exotic foreign lands that await my exploration. Being as I was running late I threw my hair into a bun, but though hmm it needs something, that something was a scarf. This is a everyday scarf that I tied in the front of my head in a bow, and tucked parts of it in to reduce that hugeness of said bow and improve my being able to see. So here you have a slightly African inspired everyday wear outfit that is comfortable and fashionable. Well love y’all be safe!

Necklace: somewhere online

Shoes: Shoe Carnival

Everything else: thrifted and or found in my mama’s closet.

Hot Fall Items- Chunky Sweaters

Chunky sweaters are absolutely everywhere and I love it! Chunky sweaters are warm, comfy, and cozy not to mention they can dress down an outfit while keeping it cute! My prime example of dressed down cuteness it the first picture of the burgundy sweater, here you have an adorable sequin dress that looks great, but is just too dressy, not to mention cold, for the streets. Instead of freaking out about your overdressed situation simply throw and chunk knit sweater over it and presto! instantly cute casual chic! The sweater over dress combo is really a hit trend, even here in the fashion slow south! So if I had to recommend one must-have hot fall item it would definitely be a chunky sweater. Love y’all!

Found this little number on sale at Old Navy, and y’all know I snatched this thing up! I think I have a new polka dot fetish so when I found a polka dot cardigan, especially in black and white, I was completely overjoyed. You’ll be seeing a lot of polka dots this season in cardigan form. Polka dots just give an outfit some dimension, it makes it fun ya know. I was going for a polished-casual look and this black button down was exactly what I was looking for. I have a thing for black button downs, I really do. The jeans dressed everything down and gave the outfit the casualness I needed for school plus their warm and comfy. My owl necklace, that really needs polishing, I just love it and it brightens up my dark outfit. Love you guys.

I absolutely could not get a good picture of this sweater! I think it was all that beautiful sunshine. That sweater,  yeah it’s vintage Ralph Lauren bought from my favorite place, the thrift store. Y’all just don’t know how comfortable it is, and the warmth! Also I straightened my hair… 4.5 hours of my life, gone. I paired this cream colored magnolia earrings from Charlotte Russe with my beloved sweater. The earrings have a vintage look that really complimented the sweater, and they filled the space between left by my updo hairstyle. Stalk thrift stores y’all, stalk them!

P.S The persimmons on our tree are ready and look how pretty!

Adorable Polyvore Fall Outfits

Hot Fall Street Style by ashaasha featuring black pointed toe flats

It’s been a long time since I’ve been on Polyvore, so I decided to pay them a much need visit, and boy did I have fun making this! Leather is huge this fall, so I channeled my inner leather through this beautiful H&M leather jacket. I love the contrasting textures in this jacket and the edge it gives the outfit. This lovely little chartreuse colored dress is the perfect embodiment of feminine elegance while still remaining functional, and let’s not forget the adorable peter pan collar. I chose this dress as a centerpiece because the silhouette really softens the outfits look, and chartreuse, one of fall’s hottest colors, is a great contrast to the dark leather jacket. Pointed toe flats are a must have fall item, especially this little darlings! I must say the gold and black combo gives the look a polished elegance I do so love. I adore this clutch and it’s simple chicness, it’s like the topping to the elegant ice cream cone! So overall you have an adorable everyday wear fall outfit that exudes feminine elegance with an edge. This has to be one of my favorite Polyvore creations, and all of these precious items can be purchased on or though Polyvore, just click on the link under the picture. Love y’all and happy fall fashion.
